Celebrating 12 Years of Success

JCC Upper West Side NYC, 12 September 2024

This year, 2024, marks the 12th anniversary of Amsterdam Publishers, and its ongoing mission to preserve, document, and share stories of Holocaust survivors and their families.

Over the past decade, the bond between this niche publishing house and its incredible authors has grown even stronger, as the importance of sharing Holocaust stories is more important than ever. Together, Liesbeth Heenk, its founder, and the authors are creating and releasing stories that resonate deeply with readers of all ages. Amsterdam Publishers has created a big, warm family of authors who support and encourage each other on their personal journeys.

The event that took place in New York City at the Marlene Meyerson JCC was an opportunity for fellow authors to connect, exchange ideas, and listen to the moving stories about their experience as Child survivor or 2nd and 3rd generation survivors. The private afternoon event deepened old bonds and offered recognition and healing. During the evening program 50 additional people were present and they all listened to the seven AP authors talking about the importance of writing and publishing their family’s Holocaust stories.

Amsterdam Publishers has published close to 100 authors in its portfolio from all over the globe. The authors flew in from as far as Israel, the West Coast, Florida, Montana, Texas and Canada for this great evening. Bringing their experiences, either as Holocaust survivors themselves or as children of survivors, this was an event of recognition and empathy. The opportunity to be surrounded by likeminded was a great reminder of the mission of Amsterdam Publishers. Liesbeth Heenk announced her plan of setting up a Charity so books can be donated to schools, colleges, universities, and libraries.

Amsterdam Publishers thanks all authors and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in New York for their support.
