Aleida Pierrette Cahusac – van den Berg

Aleida Pierrette Cahusac – van den Berg is an accomplished international artist and writer, based in New Zealand over the past 20 years.

She was born in 1928 to Dutch parents in Indonesia and grew up in Holland where her mother studied at The Royal College of Art in The Hague.
At the age of 21 she married an Englishman whom she’d met in Holland shortly after the Second World War.

They went to Africa by ship and raised a family of six children. After an extended stay in Uganda and Kenya, she travelled the world to countries such as Suriname, Pakistan and Samoa whilst her husband worked for the United Nations.

She finally settled in New Zealand with two of her daughters.
